The SANTIAGO LL is designed not just for the long march on the Camino de Santiago that leads to Santiago de Compostela. It’s also willing and able to take on all long and short tours from the valley to lofty heights. Naturally, plenty of comfort is required, too. LOWA provides it in this snug boot. The pleasant natural material leather, which is used both outside and inside the boot, makes a special contribution here. And once you head off in these boots, the outsole VIBRAM TRAC LITE II will help to quickly turn the boot into your favourite footwear for the widest range of surfaces. To provide even more comfort on all tours, the trekking boot comes with a smart X-LACING system. The boot’s tongue will certainly not slip, and you can head off on your next tour.

Why do we spend our holidays in a sleeping bag?

Your backpack is ready, and your hiking boots are tied. Your multi-day hike can begin. Such a hike is considered to be a tour that lasts for more than 24 hours. Hikers will generally sleep under the stars, in a shelter like a hut or in a tent.

Why do we prefer to explore nature on foot?

A day hike lasts for less than 24 hours and leads back to the starting point. The tour can cover either mountainous or flat terrain. The primary aim is to experience nature. The hike is usually done with light backpacks, and its degree of difficulty can vary greatly.

Why don’t we take the gondola?

A mountain hike involves a tour in highland terrain. This is the easiest way to explore the mountains. In principle, mountain hiking is something for everyone. The tours frequently use forest trails or paths. The higher the altitude of the hikes, the greater the degree of difficulty and the greater the need for experience, preparation, fitness, grip and a head for heights. Mountain hiking is a basic form of mountain climbing. The transition is frequently seamless.

Why don’t we find our answers within ourselves?

Pilgrims take a journey to a holy or spiritual place. The pilgrim takes a journey that lasts for several days or even weeks – usually on foot. Pilgrimages are a part of many religions. Today, belief in God does not have to be the primary reason for the pilgrimage. The reasons can vary greatly. Many pilgrims want to forget about their everyday lives, make a key decision or get to know themselves. No matter what reason may prompt an individual to undertake a pilgrim hike, it is not the destination that matters most. It is the experience-filled journey that counts for the pilgrim.

Where do you really want to go?

A long-distance hike usually leads through a variety of different regions and can be completed only during daily stages. Long-distance hikes very frequently involve at least 30 one-day stages and are the Olympic class of long hikes. The hiking routes cover hundreds of kilometres and frequently lead across national borders.

X-LACING To ensure that nothing slips …

As a result, the tongue is located where it should be – without any slippage or pressure points: This is what X-LACING technology of the SANTIAGO LL is all about. This special lacing system secures the tongue both vertically and horizontally. Because the lacing system gains independence from the height of the instep, the design is perfect for any type of foot. This technology ensures that the pressure of the laces is transferred not just to the hooks but to the tongue as well.

If your boots had eyes Focus on the experience

Anyone who returns home after a long hiking tour knows that feeling of gratitude. Gratitude for breathtaking days spent in the great outdoors, for spectacular moments and for snug boots that safely took the hiker up the mountains and back down again. Many hikers have a very special relationship with their hiking boots. They are something more than just another pair of shoes in the closet. They are more like a hiking partner and a real companion. For a few, they even become something that can only be described as friends. Hikers just can’t do without them. The boots fit like a glove and accompany us everywhere – as they should. Sometimes you wonder: What would the boots say if they could talk? What would they tell us? What have they seen?

LOWA FLEX® Flexible eyelets for more comfort

To add flexibility to each eyelet of the SANTIAGO LL, the lacing systems through which laces are threaded are affixed separately. These sections are made of soft leather trim or supple textile materials that prevent pressure points. Thanks to the flexible arrangement of the eyelets, the laces can be individually adjusted without producing any excessive pressure on specific areas. But the tongue maintains its optimum positioning.

LOWA x GORE-TEX – Nature Clean-Up

Nature provides us with all sorts of unique opportunities to experience unforgettable adventures and enjoy very special moments. More and more people are making a conscious decision to get back in tune with nature. But the decision by more and more people to get back in tune with nature also results in a greater and greater impact on the environment. You hear words like “awareness” and “mindfulness” a lot in discussions about this trend – but what exactly do people mean when they use them? An example: The practise of taking your trash home with you after a tour now comes second nature to many people. Such steps, no matter how tiny they may seem, can be the key to a mindful and sustainable outdoor lifestyle. But if you look around outdoors, you will certainly see many places that certainly have room for improvement.
